Recently, the owners of MIBS hosted a summer outing for all of the staff of MIBS at Arlington Race Track. Perry Camodeca Sr. showed the staff how to place bets and even provided his personal selections for all of the races that day. We are all now experts on gambling (not really).
Prior to race time, we were all fortunate to visit the stables and feed the horses. In the sun, you could get pretty warm so when we stepped into the stable, I was really amazed at how cool it was.
Perry Camodeca Sr. explained the difference between hay and straw; horses ate hay but straw was used for the floor of the stables. Outside of each stable was a fragrant dumpster that held the used straw mixed with manure. These dumpsters were picked up by a vendor who sold this straw/manure mixture to mushroom farms. From the number of dumpsters on site, Arlington Race Track provides a whole lot of mushroom growing medium.
I never knew how large the stable area was that is associated with the race track. It is like a little community neighborhood with rows and rows of stables.
Kelly enjoyed a conversation over carrots with a handsome horse.

Jenny was keeping a close eye on her horse as she fed him.
Debbie was telling this guy to behave while Stacey moved back.
What better way to spend a sunny afternoon than at the race track with a group of friends!!! The highlight for me was visiting the stables and feeding these absolutely beautiful animals. I am sure that I was not alone in feeling privileged to enter their living area and meet them face to face. As usual, any occasion that involves the MIBS family outside of work, is characterized with laughter, high spirits and lot’s of fun. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to work with an organization that encourages and supports each of their employees both on the job and outside of work. In our industry of ever changing rules and unpredictable situations, working with a team like the MIBS team somehow makes it bearable and at the end of the day (and a glass of wine), we get it done.
I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend.
Great Pics looks like a nice day.
